Sugarcane- a warm material
To curb growing the earth pollution, The EU took the lead in proposing a "plastic limit order". McDonald's, IKEA, Starbucks and other brands have responded, For a time, the plastic products became the "target of public criticism". In order to find alternatives to the plastic products, Many people have been trying hard to find solutions-the bagasse is the chosen one of them 1. the sugarcane straw A Taiwan brand has developed a sugarcane fiber straw, which not only can be decomposed completely in the soil, but also can replace the plastic straw for beverages below 50 degree Celsius, especially it does not contain gelatin, it would not soften in the beverages. The brand research team also authorize a university to research the digestion degree of sugarcane straws in the ocean and fish, and the effect was also very gratifying. The plant fiber is both environmentally friendly and conducive to digestion. If fully put into use, it will certainly alleviate the embarrassing situation of plastic straws polluting the environment to a certain extent. 2. the sugarcane flip flops In addition to being made into straws, sugar cane can also be made into flip-flops! Allbirds, a wool sneaker brand from New Zealand, the founder Tim Brown and his team, and a Brazilian company spent 2 years developing "Sugar Zeffers", a clip-on mop made of sugarcane, which is also the world's first carbon-negative green slippers. Generally speaking, ordinary soles are made of high-polluting polyethylene vinyl acetate plastic, which has high carbon emissions, while the slippers that Allbirds spent two years developing are replaced with renewable materials, plus the use of recycled polyethylene The lace made of suede made of ester fiber and sugar cane is not only easy to take off and wear, but also simple and fashionable, and it can also solve the problem of pollution. 3. the sugarcane toys In order to reduce the carbon emission, LEGO has made many improvements in the manufacturing and supply chain processes. For example, some time ago, it launched a series of building blocks made from plants. It uses sugarcane certified by the international non-profit organization Bonsucro. The ethanol it extracts is made into soft, durable, and resilient polyethylene plastic, which will be used to produce Lego's plant-based building blocks, such as leaves, shrubs and trees.

Los Angeles: The Food Containers, Cutlery... Used in Catering Industry Must Be Compostable or Recyclable
In an effort to reduce the use of disposable plastics, on April 5, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors tentatively approved an ordinance requiring that any food containers, cups, plates and cutlery provided by restaurants and food handlers in Los Angeles County must be compostable and recyclable.     The decree also prohibits the sale of“expanded polystyrene” or“Styrofoam” in retail store, including coolers, packaging materials, cups and pool toys, these items can only be sold if they are wrapped in“durable material” The decree also requires full-service restaurants with seated service to provide customers with reusable cutlery and plates. Subject to final approval by the County Board of Supervisors, the ordinance will go into effect on May 1, 2023, and apply to all food facilities and all retail stores operating at permanent locations.     The decree is backed by various environmental groups, who have enumerated the impact of plastics on local and global waste streams, as well as on people's overall health. Billions of pounds of plastic waste enter the marine environment every year, and that number is expected to triple by 2040, The Environmental Group said marine animals "are consuming or becoming entangled in plastic", noting that plastic is also becoming a health problem for humans. "Now that plastics are found in our water, food, air and bodies, scientists are still learning how this might affect human health".

France bans the sale of plastic-packaged fruits and vegetables
From January 1, 2022, France banned the sale of fruits and vegetables weighing less than 1.5 kg in plastic packaging, involving 30 kinds of fruits and vegetables, including bananas, pears, lemons, sweet peppers, cucumbers and carrots. In 2026, the ban will extend to all fruits and vegetables.     It is estimated that in France, about 37% of fruits and vegetables are packaged, and the new law encourages people to use reusable bags, preventing the use of at least 1 billion plastic packaging each year. According to the "Anti-Waste Law" passed by France in 2020, fruits that are banned from plastic packaging from January 1, 2022 include: apples, pears, bananas, oranges, citruses, lemons, kiwis, grapefruits, plums, melons, and pineapples , Mango, passion fruit, persimmon, etc.     Vegetables that are banned from plastic include leeks, zucchini, eggplant, sweet peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, radishes, carrots, water radishes, tomatoes, onions, kale, cauliflower, pumpkin, parsnips, Jerusalem artichoke and root vegetables. This ban also applies to organic fruits and vegetables, but does not apply to processed products that have been cut or peeled, and it does not apply to fruits and vegetables that are sold in batches weighing more than 1.5 kg and bulk fruits and vegetables that are perishable in the open environment.     However, this measure has not been welcomed by the National Federation of Fruit Sellers, which complained that it is difficult to switch to cartons in such a short period of time. In addition, according to the industry association, French people are more willing to buy packaged fruits and vegetables, and other customers in stores and supermarkets will not be exposed to these fruits and vegetables.      On the other hand, on the issue of plastics, Italy and the European Union are in conflict. Italy is still delaying the implementation of the EU-recommended ban on the use of plastics, which has also put Italy at the center of the storm. Several non-governmental organizations, including Greenpeace, condemned how the Italian peninsula took a step backwards by continuing to promote the use of biodegradable plastics. . Italy's plastic tax has been postponed until 2023. On the contrary, EU directives aim to eliminate all plastics. Gradually, European countries aim to completely eliminate plastic products in supermarkets and restaurants by 2040.
The Future of Packaging Industry.

The Future of Packaging Industry.
In a market research report on the top ten trends of the packaging industry made by FACHPACK a few days ago, it is undoubted that "sustainability" is the core part of these ten trends. To expand, resource-saving packaging is at the top of the list, followed by the trend of using a single material to achieve better separability, which in turn will increase the use of recycled materials. Otherwise, the circular economy is unimaginable . In addition, the research report pointed out that digital watermarking technology can help packaging recycling by category, and can realize intelligent packaging, tracking and tracing functions, because the quality tools in the food industry can help minimize losses due to decay. But even trends such as e-commerce optimized packaging design and brand experience must be considered important, especially in the context of the megatrend of sustainable development. Research shows that consumers are increasingly inclined to evaluate brands based on their eco-friendliness and pay more for this. Finally, reusable packaging is an integral part of the circular economy. From this perspective, it is not surprising that PLA (polylactic acid) ranks at the bottom of this table. This plastic is indeed produced from renewable raw materials and is biodegradable, but it is also processed into disposable products.

Are The Disposable Paper Cups Safe?
Are the disposable paper cups safe? The quality guarantee period of disposable paper cups ranges from 1 to 5 years. If the guarantee period is exceeded or the storage and transportation conditions are improper, it will cause the aging of the covering and cause the overflow of micro-plastics; the quality of some paper cups does not meet the safety and quality standards, There may be problems such as excessive heavy metal ions. Unqualified paper cups do have health risks. For example, raw materials that are moldy or contaminated during transportation and storage, the quality of printed inks are not up to standard, that may bring health risks, such as chemical composition, ink, micro-plastics, etc. Which will harm users directly or indirectly. When using all paper cups, avoid the following 2 types of food: Vinegar and Alcohol 1. Experiments have shown that acetic acid may leach some chemicals in the polyethylene film. Therefore, try not to use disposable paper cups for vinegar, and try not to use it for long-term drinking juice or carbonated drinks. 2. Studies have found that using disposable printed paper coffee cups to hold alcohol with a concentration of more than 45% for more than 2 hours will greatly increase the content of chemical substances in the wine. Moreover, alcohol may also dissolve some components in the ink on the surface of the paper cup, which is unhealthy. Regardless of the disposable paper cup, it is recommended not to reuse it, and try not to heat it in a microwave oven, so as not to cause the local temperature in the cup to be too high and the precipitation of chemical substances. Therefore, if there is not indication that it can be heated in a microwave oven, try not to heat it.
